Welcome to 1stStep.ai. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using our platform. By accessing or using 1stStep.ai, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1. Who We Are

1stStep.ai ("we," "us," or "our") is an AI-assisted resume, job-search, and supervised application platform operated by 1stStep.ai, based in New Jersey. The Service includes the web application and the 1stStep.ai Job Agent Chrome extension. It helps users maintain confirmed career information, evaluate job matches, prepare application materials, and fill ordinary fields on supported employer sites after review. 2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use 1stStep.ai. By using our service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Your Account

To access certain features, you may provide your name and email address and authenticate through an approved passwordless or identity provider. You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and protecting access to your email, identity-provider account, and device. 1stStep does not store your application password, employer passwords, passkeys, one-time codes, or CAPTCHA answers.

4. Subscription Plans and Payment

1stStep.ai may offer free, limited, promotional, or paid access. Current features, usage limits, eligibility requirements, and prices are displayed in the product or checkout before purchase and may change over time.

• Free or limited access: May include a limited selection or quantity of resume, matching, document, vault, and saved-job features as shown in the product.
• Paid access: May include higher usage limits, encrypted-vault features, application tracking, and the supervised Chrome extension workflow, as described before purchase.

Paid subscriptions are purchased through the 1stStep.ai website, billed monthly, and processed securely through Stripe. Google and the Chrome Web Store are not the seller and do not process the subscription payment. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' written notice to the email address on your account. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

Refunds: Subscription fees are generally non-refundable except where required by applicable law. New Jersey residents retain all rights provided under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq.) and other applicable consumer protection statutes. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under applicable law, please contact us at support@1ststep.ai.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use 1stStep.ai only for lawful purposes. You may not:

• Use the service to generate false, misleading, or fraudulent content intended to deceive employers
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse our API infrastructure
• Share, sell, or resell access to your account or the service
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable law or third-party rights
• Submit malicious files or content designed to harm our systems
• Use the extension for another person's application without their authorization
• Use the Service to bypass a CAPTCHA, login restriction, employer security control, application limit, or other protective measure
• Use the Service in a way that violates an employer site's applicable terms or instructions

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of the resume content, job descriptions, and other materials you submit to 1stStep.ai ("Your Content"). By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it for the sole purpose of providing the service to you.

We do not use your resume content to train our models. When you request an AI feature, the minimum content needed may be transmitted to an approved AI provider. If you enable secure backup or use Job Agent features, confirmed facts, documents, preferences, application records, and consent records may be stored in encrypted tenant-partitioned records as described in the Privacy Policy.

How we handle Your Content, including Chrome extension data, is described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide Your Content and direct us to process it.

7. Chrome Extension

We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the 1stStep.ai Job Agent Chrome extension with your account for its disclosed single purpose: supervised review and approved-field filling for specifically supported Greenhouse applications.

The extension may:

• Detect and display the job title, employer, location, description, requisition context, and URL from a supported Greenhouse page
• Let you correct detected job details or provide a job description manually
• Open the selected job in 1stStep.ai for resume tailoring, cover-letter preparation, or application preparation
• Check your signed-in Job Agent access through an open 1stStep.ai tab
• Inspect the structure, labels, types, and options of eligible application fields after you start the filling workflow
• Request server-side job reverification, application-session validation, consent checks, match scoring, and tailoring justification
• Fill confirmed ordinary application values and an approved resume only after the required review action
• Report which approved fields were filled or could not be filled so your application checkpoint remains accurate

When enabled on a supported Greenhouse page, the extension may detect the active job's URL and listing content locally so it can show its controls. When you start the fill workflow, it may transmit the page URL and a value-free description of eligible form fields to 1stStep.ai. If the server confirms the job, your application session, your approval, and a sufficient match assessment, the extension may receive and fill only the confirmed values and approved resume prepared for that exact application.

The extension does not submit applications. It does not fill passwords, one-time codes, CAPTCHA answers, signatures, attestations, protected-trait answers, or other blocked consequential fields. You must review every populated field, complete any unanswered questions yourself, comply with the employer site's requirements, and decide whether to press the employer's final submit control.

The extension may stop, decline to fill, or require your review if a job cannot be reverified, the page or application session has changed, the match assessment is insufficient, required information is missing, or a field is unsupported. Functionality is not promised on websites, applicant-tracking systems, or page versions that are not specifically supported.

The extension is an independent 1stStep.ai product. Google, Chrome, Greenhouse, and listed employers do not sponsor, endorse, or operate it. Your use of Chrome and an employer site remains subject to their separate terms and privacy practices.

8. AI-Generated Outputs

Our service uses artificial intelligence and deterministic matching to help prepare job-search materials. Scores and AI outputs are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular employer or role. You are responsible for reviewing application content and making final submission decisions. Only an authoritative employer receipt may be treated as confirmation that an application was submitted. 1stStep.ai makes no guarantee that using the service will result in applications, interviews, offers, or any specific employment outcome.

9. Intellectual Property

All software, design, trademarks, and content on 1stStep.ai (excluding Your Content) are owned by or licensed to us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from our platform without our written permission.

10. Third-Party Services

Our service integrates with third-party providers including:

• Approved AI providers, including OpenAI and Anthropic - user-requested processing of resume, profile, and job-description content
• Stripe — Payment processing
• Vercel — Infrastructure and hosting
• Upstash - encrypted records, opaque sessions, rate limits, and workflow coordination
• Resend - account verification and transactional email
• Supported public applicant-tracking systems - public job discovery and exact job verification

Your use of these integrations is also subject to those providers' terms of service. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

1stStep.ai is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee any specific results from using the service. Nothing in this section is intended to limit any rights you may have under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act or other applicable consumer protection law.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, 1stStep.ai and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies you may have under New Jersey law, including the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq.) or the Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act (N.J.S.A. 56:12-14 et seq.).

13. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at support@1ststep.ai. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful to other users or our platform. Upon termination, you may request deletion of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Nothing in this section limits your right to bring claims under New Jersey consumer protection statutes in any court of competent jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
